Summer 2014 "Daytime" & "Nighttime" Necklace, Bracelet and Earring Set by Bobbie Rafferty

"When I got the beads for this challenge, they immediately reminded me of vacations on the Gulf Coast -- the delicate purples of seashell linings and sunsets, the light blue of the shallow gulf water, and the deeper turquoise/teal of the deeper water. They made me want to sink my toes into some sparkling white sand and play! My idea for the daytime look is laid back and fun with a twist of cool - knotting the beads on leather preserves the pops of intense color, but keeps the pieces light enough to wear comfortably on a hot, humid summer day. My favorite touch here was using the hour glass beads as toggles in the necklace and bracelet! I can see these strolling down the beach, accessorizing a floaty sarong, or strolling downtown while window shopping for the perfect souvenir. For the summer night time look, I imagined that I'd still be on the beach, needing something light yet elegant for a romantic dinner under the stars. The dangled freeform pendants, curved diamonds, and donut pendant swing freely from the sterling necklace chain, while the stacked curved diamonds nestle together, but still retain their movement. The bracelet focuses on the interesting matte finish of the barrel nuggets, on a chain that I hand-fabricated from sterling wire. Imagine how the silver on these pieces would sparkle in the moonlight or candlelight during that beachfront dinner!"
